Brightfield Software respects user privacy and is committed to protecting it through thoughtful design and responsible data practices. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our iOS apps and games.

Brightfield Software acts as the data controller for personal data processed in connection with our apps, except where third-party providers such as Quiltt Inc. and Enable Banking AS act as independent data controllers or processors under their own legal obligations.

1. Overview

Brightfield Software builds iOS apps and games with a strong emphasis on privacy and on-device processing. Wherever possible, functionality is designed to operate without collecting or transmitting personal data.

If an app requires data to function, that data is handled deliberately and transparently.

2. Information We Collect

Minimal Data Collection

Brightfield Software is designed to operate with minimal data collection. Most features of our apps function entirely on your device and do not require us to collect or store personal data on our servers.

Certain optional features - such as connecting a bank account for automatic transaction synchronisation - require the temporary processing of financial data through third-party services at your explicit request.

Bank Account Connections

When you choose to connect a bank account, we use third-party financial connectivity providers, including Quiltt Inc. and Enable Banking AS, to securely authenticate your bank and retrieve account balances and transaction history. These providers act as intermediaries between Brightfield Software and your bank and enable secure access to financial data without sharing your banking credentials with us.

Quiltt Inc. and Enable Banking AS operate as regulated financial service providers and process your data in accordance with applicable financial regulations and their respective privacy policies:

This process is initiated only with your explicit consent. Brightfield Software does not store your banking credentials. Financial data retrieved through Quiltt Inc. and Enable Banking AS is transmitted securely through Brightfield Software’s infrastructure and delivered to your device. This data is not retained by Brightfield Software and is stored only on your device.

International Data Transfers

When you connect a US bank account, your financial data is processed by Quiltt Inc., a company based in the United States. This transfer is carried out in accordance with Quiltt's privacy policy and applicable data protection obligations.

When you connect a European bank account, your financial data is processed by Enable Banking AS, a company based in Norway. Norway is subject to the European Economic Area (EEA) data protection framework, and this transfer does not constitute a transfer outside the EEA.

Brightfield Software does not itself transfer your financial data outside your region. Data retrieved through these providers is transmitted securely to your device and is not stored on Brightfield Software's servers.

3. On-Device Processing

Many features in Brightfield Software apps are designed to operate entirely on the device.

This means:

  • Your data remains on your device whenever possible.

  • Processing occurs locally rather than on external servers.

  • Network access is used only when necessary for functionality.

Brightfield Software uses Apple's App Attest framework to verify the integrity of app instances communicating with our infrastructure. This process does not involve the collection or processing of personal data.

4. Third-Party Services & Data Disclosure

Brightfield Software uses third-party services only where necessary to provide features you explicitly choose to enable.

When you connect a bank account, Brightfield Software uses Quiltt Inc. (for US accounts) and Enable Banking AS (for European accounts) as financial connectivity providers, as described in Section 2, and does not retain financial information after it has been securely transmitted to your device.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes. Third-party services are used solely to perform the limited functions required to deliver requested app features.

Apple and the App Store

Brightfield Software distributes its apps through the Apple App Store. Apple may independently collect certain data in connection with your use of the App Store and your device, including diagnostics and performance information, in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. This data is collected by Apple acting as an independent data controller and is not accessible to or controlled by Brightfield Software.

5. Children’s Privacy

Brightfield Software's apps are not directed at children under the age of 13 and are not knowingly designed to collect personal data from children.

If you believe a child has provided personal data through our apps, please contact us at support@brightfieldsoftware.com and we will take steps to delete such information.

6. Data Retention and Security

Brightfield Software is designed to minimise data retention. We do not store banking credentials, account balances, or transaction data on our servers.

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect any data processed in connection with the app, including encryption and secure authentication mechanisms.

We do not use financial data for analytics, behavioural tracking, or advertising.

7. Security Incidents and Breach Notification

In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware, as required under GDPR Article 33. Where a breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will also notify affected users without undue delay in accordance with GDPR Article 34.

8. Your Choices, Consent, and Control

Connecting a bank account is optional and requires your explicit consent. You may choose not to enable this feature and continue using the app with manually entered data.

If you connect a bank account, you may revoke access to the linked bank account at any time within the application. Once disconnected, no new financial data will be retrieved.

Because financial data is processed and stored locally on your device, deleting the app removes access to any previously retrieved account information.

The legal basis for processing financial data is your explicit consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You may withdraw your consent at any time by disconnecting your bank account within the app.

9. Your Data Protection Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data;

  • request correction of inaccurate data;

  • request deletion of your data;

  • request restriction of processing;

  • object to processing;

  • request data portability.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe your personal data has been processed in a way that does not comply with applicable data protection law. For EU residents, the relevant authority is the data protection authority in your country of residence. For US residents, data protection rights and remedies vary by state. Where applicable state privacy laws apply, you may also have rights under those laws, which you can exercise by contacting us at support@brightfieldsoftware.com.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if app functionality or data practices change.

Any material changes will be reflected on this page, and the “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly.
